The present paper is an attempt the firm level performance of manufacturing and service sectors in India in terms of the level of technical change, technical efficiency change, and productivity growth. Heterodox microeconomics explores the economy with a focus on its constituent parts and their reproduction and recurrence, their integration qua interdependency by non-market and market arrangements and institutions, and how the system works as a whole. We estimate a Malmquist multifactor productivity index for 22 transition economies over 17 years to compare their relative performance depending on their speed of reform.
