Do-it-yourselfers looking for the next small construction project. There were so many holes left open it's like Swiss cheese. The mystery in this book was weak, which is not the faux pas. Most of the usual secondary characters got a brief nod in this one.
This is the third in the series and I have read each one. I am the bread of life. The secondary cast of characters add to the overall enjoyment of the story. The author successfully conveys a sense of urgency which made the book very gripping. The new baking masterwork from the author of The Cake Bible and The Pie and Pastry Bible. If you missed the first book, Kneaded to Death, I highly recommend you pick it up. The mysteries- this time it's the murder of her brother's rival- are not gory or even particularly complex- but the characters are completely winning. I am the living bread which came down from heaven. Overall, this is a fun series and I am looking forward to more from this author. The rival is found dead in his own art car. Everyone loves fresh bread, but not the time it takes to make it.

I like Ivy, the main character. The supporting charcters all add to the fun and assist Ivy with her sleuth. As I did this, I discovered the dough was not going to roll out enough to hold the cheese it was calling for. I found a recipe that reportedly was used by my first lunch lady, Rosie Bechtol of Coulee City. Ivy is amazed by the work of car art he has created. Cover with a 3 layers of sliced cheese, or an approximate equivalent of shredded cheese. She is surrounded by the local cast of characters, including her father and her brother Billy, her best friend Emma who happens to be assistant police chief and her high school boyfriend Miguel.
